After American Idol

September 18, 2007 by Jo Minor

The producers of the hit TV reality show American Idol are planning a second show based on Idol?s mechanics, and will include bands this time. The show, entitled The Next Great American Band, will incorporate John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, among others, as judges. Their first job will be to narrow down all auditioning bands to the best 10. After the elimination process, the selected 10 will have to perform original tracks as well as covers week in and week out in front of a studio audience.

As with American Idol, the judges will comment on their performance but viewers will cast the votes to decide who stays and who gets the ticket back home. The final 3 surviving bands will then battle it out to win a recording contract with show creator Simmon Fuller?s 19 Recordings.
