Brian May, guitarist of rock legends Queen, has finally handed over his thesis entitled ?Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud? and has finally earned his PhD after more than 30 years.

The story began when May began studying a highly specialised area of astronomy in 1974 - that?s when he started writing his thesis at the Imperial College in London. As Queen?s fame and fortune began to rise astronomically (pun intended) May abandoned his thesis. He finally submitted his work in early August to the college?s head of astrophysics Professor Paul Nandra.

May will be presented with his qualification at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2008.
