RATM: The Reunion
September 25, 2007 by Jo Minor
Rage Against The Machine, one of the greatest standout bands of the 90s, was due to reunite sooner or later. The Smashing Pumpkins beat them to it, though, and they?re already playing shows as a band again. RATM, on the other hand, has ? slowly but surely ? parted ways with ex-Soundgarden man Chris Cornell, and this seems to strengthen the theory that the band is planning a complete reunion.
?
Chris Cornell wasn?t the right man for the job anyway. He took away the anger that Zack de la Rocha had, and somehow softened the entire band as they morphed into a forgettable unit known as Audioslave. The rest of the band had to change their musical ways to suit his singing ? fans said tearful goodbyes to the guitar-driven sounds of RATM.
?
Let?s hope that Zack returns for good. RATM deserves to be more than one of the standout bands of the 90s; they deserve to do what they do best right here, right now, in a time where we need more authentic rock music.
