Showcase Your Music to A&R Reps

August 22, 2007 by Jo Minor

ShowCaseYourMusic.com makes an interesting promise: Get massive publicity and hopefully land a record deal in the process.

Basically, what you do here is create a profile page (they call it a showcase) just as you would with your MySpace page. And just like Myspace, the site itself looks like crap.

The basic idea is that A&R reps are going to come to the site, and search for artists to invest a couple of thousands in. How true that is, I don’t know.

If you’ve used this service and had any luck with them, do submit a comment below.

Yeah, sounds unlikely to me… the A&R guys i know go to live shows to check out bands. If they go anywhere online, it’s going to be MySpace, and of the 40 or so artists I’ve seen, only 1 has been signed primarily off of a referral through MySpace. That’s my two cents anyways…

I enjoy the blog, have been reading it a little while now. Hope to talk to you more soon!

    -Matt

Hi I’m Element, a London solo Hip-Hop artist using show case your music. All I can say is that I use this site because of its originality, its direct link to A&Rs and its not main streem like MySpace. So far I’ve had one Indie label offer but I’m holding on for a Major Record label to pass through. Take a trip to my site: http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/4thelement

I am very disappointed in the site. Sure, you can load up anything, and people will genuinely listen. I had one young woman on the site, doing original music for two years with Tabasco Tom, he’s out there, and even though she rated in the top ten for months[out of 30,000 sites, no A and R person ever contacted us. They don’t reply to requests or perceived problems. I guess it’s democratic in a way as other musicians soon sort out the rude and the objectionable people who abuse others publicly.
I suppose I have made a number of valuable contacts, but not from the managers of the site. Is it all automated?

I believe they should keep this website for those artist who have talent.
It is the artist photos, songs, videos and talent that they are looking at to see
whether the artist has talent. This is actually a great website & assisting
my artists immensely with their music, wonderful.
I recommend SYM for starting off in music if
    you’ve got the right talent.

It is not the SYM website’s fault if that dude has not got any talent.

The marimba belles is a very good ensemble of children playing excellent music. jemma Rosamaki is an exceptional young woman who could sing anything yet again, no A and R staff have ever contacted us. Jemma was 11 at the time of recording. Sure, I’ve had contacts but not from the Amercian music industry.
What about Vanessa Moses from Australia. She is brilliant, totally outstanding.
Yvette Quibell has given up and is wasted even though she is unique.
